Australian Ecosystems was contracted to supply and plant over 240,000 aquatic and ephemeral plants on this significant wetland in the South East of Melbourne.
This project retains and treats stormwater from the Hallam Main Drain which eventually feeds into the Mordialloc Creek and Port Phillip Bay.
This project provided special challenges in establishing wetland vegetation despite a large waterfowl population, which presented significant grazing pressures to establishing plants.
Australian Ecosystems has developed specialised systems and formats for protecting aquatic plant species vulnerable to avifaunal grazing through the establishment phase.
