Working for VicUrban under the direction of Collie landscape architects, Australian Ecosystems planted a series of wetlands and a long channel with a diverse range of locally indigenous basalt plains wetland, grassland and riparian species. Over 100,000 plants representing around 50 aquatic, tree, grass and shrub species were propagated and planted. The end result is a low maintenance fully vegetated system that has great erosion control, water filtration, habitat, biodiversity and aesthetic benefits for residents. This project won the Commendation for Environment in Landscape Architecture 2005, awarded by Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) to Collie Pty Ltd.
