Settlers Run Golf Course

[Previous Project] [Back to Projects] [Next Project]

This restoration project saw the revegetation of a number of different Ecological Vegetation Classes associated with the Heathy Woodlands and wetlands of the Cranbourne area.

The project involved the seed collection, growing and planting of 380,000 trees, grasses, shrubs, wildflowers and aquatic plants

Close proximity of this site to Cranbourne Botanic Gardens saw the staff of Australian Ecosystems and the Botanic Gardens working closely together.

This was to ensure that all species propagated for the project were suitable for the location, of correct provenance and cognisant of the need to protect the genetic integrity of the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens bushland areas.

Australian Ecosystems met these requirements, which required specialist collection of seed for this project.

In a recent assessment of the development of the revegetation a White-winged Triller was recorded. This species is not often observed around Melbourne and provides an important indicator to the integrity of this project.
