Cairnlea Lakes housing estate, developed by VicUrban, contains a large number of wetlands and waterbodies designed to capture, retain and treat stormwater from the urban catchment.
Australian Ecosystems has collected seed, planted and maintained all the wetlands on this housing project.
The large wetland at Gladestone Street at Cairnlea Estate involved the planting of around 120,000 plants, and is now a significant site for a variety of bird species, as well as a good habitat site for Growling Grass Frogs (Litoria raniformis).
